Pilates is an exercise regime that specifically focuses on improving spine function and abdominal strength by performing slow and controlled movements that strengthen the trunk stabilising muscles and postural muscles.
The Transverses (the deep abdominal muscle) and the Multifidous (spinal muscles) can become weak, particularly after pregnancy or injury and Pilates floor work is a great way to re-train and strengthen these muscles. Pilates will help you to improve your posture and can help with flexibility, balance and co-ordination.
