If accountability is your biggest struggle, set up a date with your fitness partner every week. You’d never bail out on a friend week in, week out. Sometimes, the end goal seems so far out of reach that it would just be ‘easier’ to quit now – but a friend will always remind you of your worth and to keep going. It can be easy to be harsh on yourself, but no friend will let you give up. Exercising with a friend breeds positivity and more self-love, and we can all do with more of that.

There’s nothing wrong with a bit of healthy competition between friends. Having someone to compete with gives you both an edge to try harder. Maybe you’d both like to run 5km under 25 minutes or complete 20 push ups on your toes, or perhaps you’re training for True Grit. Use each other to dig deep but remember: friends foremost!
